Increasing the international visibility and awareness of Tallinn as a destination
By promoting Tallinn as an international destination, Tallinn increases its international profile and attractiveness, supporting its economic, cultural and social development and improving the quality of life of residents. In international city marketing, we will focus on three focus areas where Tallinn is already internationally renowned:
- Innovation and digital services
- Culture and creative industries
- Education
Through international city marketing:
- Tallinn is defined as centre for green innovation
- Strong international partnerships are built to develop the city’s economy, culture and sustainable tourism
- The image of Tallinn as an innovative, sustainable and inclusive city organisation is reinforced
Activities
Creating a Tallinn place brand
Tallinn will develop a strong and distinctive brand and destination marketing action plan and a monitoring system to track and evaluate the results and impact of Tallinn’s international destination marketing. Organising international signature events and conferences to increase its visibility, Tallinn will launch an international signature event and regularly host influential international events and conferences focusing on key strategic themes related to urban development.
Establishing city marketing and image creation networks
Tallinn will work closely with innovation businesses, clusters, universities, tourism businesses and public authorities to achieve its strategic destination marketing and image creation objectives. Emphasis will be on the global marketing of Tallinn’s success story and its presence in key international networks.
Developing economic diplomacy
Tallinn is developing an economic diplomacy service to help the city’s entrepreneurs establish international contacts and promote cooperation in foreign cities. The service will focus on expanding opportunities for businesses to cooperate internationally, strengthening Tallinn’s reputation as a reliable and competitive partner in the world.
Strengthening strategic international media coverage
Tallinn plans its visibility in the international media strategically and systematically, working with international organisations, media agencies and other partners (e.g. mapping target groups for international marketing, building relationships with foreign media, organising international marketing and press campaigns, and producing communication materials for Tallinn’s internationalisation).
